Videos not working in garrys mod4/7/2024 ![]() What's it like to see the beloved characters from Half-Life and other Valve games being used with Garry's Mod for machinima and comics and videos?ĮJ: It’s pretty cool. Garry has always been about as good as it gets at picking the right direction to take his game. It’s a more difficult process than it sounds, because it really comes down to navigating a constant stream of feedback, but being limited in the amount of time to get everything done. We’ve always been impressed by Garry’s ability to iterate on the game and roll feedback from his community into the game so well. That said, it would have been pretty hard to predict the Garry’s Mod of 2019 back in 2004. So, on one hand, it wasn’t surprising that Garry started in a similar place that we did. Even in the early days of development, most of the experiments that people were running had the physics engine at its core. It felt like Garry’s Mod grew right out of that community after Half-Life 2 shipped.ĭid anyone at Valve have any idea the Source engine could be used the way it is in Garry's Mod? Are there any tools in GMod that surprised you to see?ĮJ: A lot of the identity of the gameplay of Half-Life 2 centered around physics. While having the code for Half-Life 2 out in the wild before the game was finished wasn’t a super positive experience for the team finishing the game, it's pretty cool to see what the mod community could get working with that unfinished codebase. I do remember there being a pretty significant, and somewhat underground, mod community that was working off of the Half-Life 2 source code leak from 2003. He's probably solved it by now but just in case he has the problem again, here's a solution. What's it like being a citizen under the oppressive thumb of the Combine on a Garry's Mod roleplaying server? We went undercover to find out.Įrik Johnson: The specific point in time is a little tricky to pin down. Hopefully this helps.Įdit: I've realized that this post started in 2017. There are probably different ways to solve this but this was the way that I did it. If they still do not work properly, I do not know of any other way to solve this problem, other than maybe trying to re-install Garry's Mod entirely. Once they are all installed, they should work properly assuming you have space for them. That ensures that they are actually installing. Make sure that you see at the bottom of your screen "Extracting Addon" for every addon that you download. Once Garry's Mod is launched, it should automatically start to re-download and re-install the addons. This is extremely important!! If you don't have enough space, they will download but they won't install and you will have the same problem as before. If there's anything there, delete it.īefore launching Garry's Mod, make sure that you have enough space for your addons. Once that's done, go to your Garry's Mod addons folder. It probably will not have consequences but I haven't tested it myself, so better safe than sorry. I haven't confirmed this, but don't delete the 4000 folder itself. Back out and delete every file in the "4000" folder. If the contents in one of the folders contains a legacy.bin file (or something similar) then you're in the right place. Go to "steamapps\workshop\content\4000" and look in one of the folders. Wherever that site may be could also help. I was thinking there might be a site where I can download addons straight to that folder, instead of in game. I tried installing a whole ton of addons off of trending, and I found in the console a giant box of red text. I think I might be missing something, so if you could find it that'd help. ![]() I checked the garrysmod addon folder, and they aren't there either. They download, install, and show up in my subscriptions, but they don't show up in the menu. ![]() ![]() Originally posted by Greyn:My addons in Garry's Mod aren't popping up in the spawn menu at all. Try "Menu_cleanupgmas" in the developers console (~ to open) so you can clear it.Īnother possibility is that Gmod is just having an error installing, I'm not sure about fixing this because the Source Engine (valves game engine) is very unoptimized, which is why Valve's games like Gmod, TF2, L4D2, etc. also, it says missing file, but that cannot be because of those addons. mine seems fine, I've only run into one addon that did this, I was kinda dissapointed when I saw it. That is my closest bet about what's happening there. Although no errors about that pop up, it doesn't even exist so that doesn't make sense to me. Originally posted by Nightfall:The red text is GMod not discovering the addon so it shows an error and, because it's classified as a "bad addon" by Garry's Mod (because it had an error) it tries to remove the addon.
